I'm thinking this will be a bi-weekly kind of blag (lol, xkcd) in which I recap political stuff Wednesdays and my personal life Fridays. Where do I begin? Sarah Palin. I only hope she's as staunch with her ideals as Barack isn't-thing is; her youthful counterpart Obama, couldn't support a position on an issue even if you lobbied him. I'm not saying I'm for her positions on these issues, God no! It's just... my girlfriend was one hundred percent right about this: McCain means what he says, and he talks about what matters. Obama has in turn sold-out liberalism in favor of "hope".
The man is a demagogue, and Biden isn't much better with all his blue-collar bullshit. Perhaps this issue with Bristol Palin's pregnancy will be her first test... and there's only two ways out: Go with her positions as governor (STONE THE HARLOT!) and be cast as inhumanly cruel by "Hope we can believe in" or... she can adopt an entirely new platform in the vein of Conservatives of old: Small Government. (I don't advocate small government.) What ever happened to "Government is not the solution, it is the problem"?
What I'm saying is that if the Right will keep it's nose out of it's VP picks' teen daughter's pregnancy issues, then I fully expect it to keep from criticizing and witholding rights from homosexuals, women who choose to abort, and others who have been targets of evangelical rhetoric. Call me an off-the-walls lunatic, but I think McCain has the guts to do something like that. Republican government not involved in our private lives? With a fresh face like Palin and a stand-up guy like JMc, it may be possible.
No, I don't think Palin would be selling out conservatism like Obama compromised on liberalism, beacause isn't keeping out of an American's affairs one of the main tenets of Reaganism? Better that than the "grassroots" Fascism of the Bush administration's Christian taliban (Westboro Baptists). I heard Maureen Dowd (The NY Times is losing it's touch!) bitching about Republicans being out of touch with reality-the whole deal is that they don't touch our reality. See, I'd rather they don't touch it than force a bible-beating one on me.
In these times, I call that a reasonable alternative to Mr. Barack "We are the ones we have been waiting for" Obama. FISA, off shore drilling, and the idea that "marriage is between a man and a woman." A true socialist we have on our hands! He will no doubt advance America by switching his stances to attract the Truck Nuts (google it) crowd.
My point is: John McCain has never given up what he believes in to attract more votes... I don't support what he stands for, but he's an honest man and I admire him for that. Obama will say anything to look good. I hope Mrs. Palin is not the same way.
